Most classes are held online, giving you complete freedom to learn at your own time and pace. This allows you to fit courses around your daily routine or work schedule. Only the lab sessions require on-site attendance, but they are short and take place in several cities around the world, including New York, London, Hong Kong, and Bangkok.
Course participants can earn an Applied Jewelry Professional diploma, which does not require participation in laboratory classes. This is an excellent option for those who want to pursue a career in the jewelry industry or expand their customer service skills.
The qualifications you gain open the door to a wide range of opportunities, from working in jewelry stores and advising on gemstone purchases to specialized valuations and certification. The GIA also offers scholarships for both online and in-class courses. Applications are accepted twice a year, in March and September.
